The Margaritaville at Sea Beachcomber recently arrived at Harland & Wolff in Belfast, Northern Ireland, for a major refurbishment.
Acquired by Margaritaville at Sea earlier this year, the 2003-built ship is being prepared for its inaugural season with the company.
“It’s a significant project for the yard and one that will support jobs, skills and businesses across Belfast and the wider maritime sector, with around £40 million expected to flow into the regional economy through the program,” the shipyard said in a statement.
Harland & Wolff said the Beachcomber will undergo a major transformation ahead of its debut in 2027.
Originally built for Costa Cruises, the ship will gain new venues as part of the refit, along with updated staterooms and public areas.
According to the shipyard, the project follows the successful transformation of the Margaritaville at Sea Islander, which was refurbished in Belfast in 2024.
“We’re proud that Margaritaville at Sea has once again chosen Belfast and the expertise of our workforce, supply chain partners and wider maritime community,” the yard said.
Upon completing its refit, the Beachcomber is scheduled to cross the Atlantic ahead of welcoming its first guests at PortMiami in January 2027.
The 2,720-passenger ship will spend its maiden season offering itineraries to the Caribbean, the Bahamas and Florida from Miami.
In mid-2027, the vessel is scheduled to reposition to the Port of Galveston, marking Margaritaville’s debut in Texas.
Harland & Wolff was acquired by Spanish shipbuilder Navantia in late 2024 as part of a deal that saved more than 1,000 jobs.
In addition to the Islander, the Belfast shipyard welcomed a second cruise ship, the Villa Vie Odyssey, for a refit in 2024.
