Cruise Industry News takes a look at a number of drydock projects scheduled to take in May.

Valiant Lady
Cruise Line: Virgin Voyages
Capacity: 2,770 guests
Tonnage: 110,000
Year built: 2021
Drydock Period: May 9 to May 25, 2026
Shipyard: Fincantieri (Palermo, Italy)

The Valiant Lady is currently undergoing its first drydock after arriving at Fincantieri’s Palermo Shipyard earlier this month.

Set to welcome guests back on May 25, the Virgin Voyages vessel is also expected to introduce updates to its public areas before kicking off a summer season in Europe. Specific details of the upgrades will be announced at a later date.

Carnival Legend
Cruise Line: Carnival Cruise Line
Capacity: 2,100 guests
Tonnage: 88,500
Year built: 2002
Drydock Period: Apr. 29 to May 20, 2026
Shipyard: Grand Bahama (Freeport, the Bahamas)

After pausing its operations in Galveston earlier this month, the Carnival Legend is in drydock at the Grand Bahama Shipyard in Freeport, the Bahamas.

The Carnival Cruise Line ship is undergoing scheduled maintenance in addition to overall upkeep work and class inspections.

Ahead of a summer season in Europe, the 2002-built vessel is set to welcome guests back in PortMiami on May 20, 2026.

Norwegian Gem
Cruise Line: Norwegian Cruise Line
Capacity: 2,430 guests
Tonnage: 93,000
Year built: 2007
Drydock Period: Apr. 25 to May 11, 2026
Shipyard: Chantier Naval de Marseille (Marseille, France)

The Norwegian Gem recently underwent a routine drydock at the Chantier Naval de Marseille Shipyard in France.

In line with other vessels in Norwegian’s Jewel-class series, the 2,430-passenger ship introduced a new Vibe Beach Club during the shipyard stay.

The Gem also underwent technical maintenance and class work before resuming service for a European season on May 11, 2026.

Adora Mediterranea
Cruise Line: Adora Cruises
Capacity: 2,100 guests
Tonnage: 86,000
Year built: 2003
Drydock Period: May 7 to May 21, 2026
Shipyard: COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Zhoushan, China)

Adora Cruises’ Mediterranea is currently in drydock at the COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry Shipyard in Zhoushan, China.

As previously reported by Cruise Industry News, the former Costa ship is undergoing interior refurbishment work, as well as routine maintenance.

Before resuming its regular cruise operations on May 21, the Mediterranea is also getting a full hull repaint using silicone paint, as well as structural repairs and engine overhauls.

Disney Magic
Cruise Line: Disney Cruise Line
Capacity: 1,750 guests
Tonnage: 85,000
Year built: 1998
Drydock Period: May 2 to May 16, 2026
Shipyard: Seaspan Victoria (Victoria, Canada)

After completing its winter season in the Caribbean, the Disney Magic underwent a routine drydock at the Seaspan Victoria Shipyard in Canada’s British Columbia

The 1998-built ship was also prepared for a series of seven-night cruises to Alaska, which start on May 21, 2026.
