The Adora Mediterranea has entered a scheduled drydock at COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) Co., Ltd. for a 10-day maintenance and upgrade project.
The vessel docked at the shipyard’s No. 2 drydock on Wednesday, May 7.
Marine engineering firm Peak Ocean is overseeing the interior refurbishment work under a contract procured by Columbia Cruise Services on behalf of the shipowner.
Peak Ocean will upgrade more than 1,650 square meters of the ship’s core public areas, with work focused on the main galley, the Lido buffet restaurant on Deck 9, and the spa area.
Additional work includes propulsion and machinery overhauls, a full hull repaint using silicone paint and structural repairs.
The project marks COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Zhoushan)’s 12th cruise ship drydock.
The shipyard entered the cruise drydock market in 2017 and has since worked on vessels including the Ovation of the Seas, Blue Dream Melody and Piano Land.
Following completion of the refurbishment around mid-May, Adora Mediterranea is scheduled to reposition to Qingdao, where it will operate a special themed voyage from Qingdao International Cruise Home Port on May 21.
The five-day, four-night sailing will call at the South Korean ports of Busan and Jeju Island and is reported to be the only cruise departure from Qingdao in the first half of the year.
The vessel will then reposition to Tianjin to commence its main summer season, returning on June 7 to officially launch its 2026 sailing program. From June 7 through October 11, Adora Mediterranea is scheduled to operate 25 international voyages from Tianjin.
