The new Carnival Jubilee is completing its first year of service for Carnival Cruise Line in December.
Built by the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, the ship was delivered to the U.S.-based company on Dec. 4, 2023.
As the third vessel in Carnival’s Excel Class, the 5,400-guest ship crossed the Atlantic Ocean with no passengers onboard before officially debuting in Galveston.
Sailing from its Texas homeport, the Jubilee welcomed its first paying guests on Dec. 23, 2023, kicking off a maiden cruise to the Western Caribbean.
In addition to three days at sea, the itinerary included visits to Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mexico, as well as Mahogany Bay in Honduras.
A few months later, in February 2024, the Carnival Jubilee was christened at a special ceremony in Galveston.
Music star Gwen Stefani served as the vessel’s godmother during the celebrations, which also included a private concert for guests.
According to Carnival, the ceremony marked the first time a new cruise ship was christened at the port of Galveston.
Originally ordered for AIDA Cruises, the Carnival Jubilee was transferred to Carnival Cruise Line’s fleet while still in the early stages of construction.
The LNG-powered ship is part of Carnival Corporation’s Excel Class, which also includes vessels sailing for Costa Cruises, P&O Cruises and AIDA Cruises.
In addition to the Jubilee, Carnival Cruise Line also operates two ships in the series: the 2021-built Mardi Gras and the 2022-built Carnival Celebration.
Two additional vessels of the same design are scheduled to join the company’s fleet in the near future, with deliveries scheduled for 2027 and 2028.
Still sailing from Galveston, the Carnival Jubilee is set to offer seven-night cruises to the Western Caribbean in 2025.
Jubilee’s regular itineraries include three days at sea, as well as visits to Cozumel, Costa Maya and Mahogany Bay.
