Costa 2024 Cruise Capacity Concentrated in Europe

Costa Cruises’ 2024 cruise capacity is concentrated in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.

According to the 2024 Cruise Industry News Annual Report, over 55 percent of all the company’s capacity in 2024 will be dedicated to one of these two regions, with South America and Asia also playing important roles.

Most of the company’s vessels are scheduled to sail in the Mediterranean or Northern Europe during the year.

The lineup includes the fleet’s largest and newest vessels, the 5,224-guest Costa Smeralda and its sister ship Costa Toscana,

Operating in partnership with local players, the Costa Serena is the company’s sole ship in Asia and is scheduled to offer a year-round program of short cruises in the Far East and Southeast Asia.

It also includes Costa’s return to Hong Kong, with a short program out of the port scheduled for the fall.

After seeing significant growth in 2023, South America is another key operating region fo rhte company.

For the 2024-25 winter, Costa will deploy three ships to South America, including the Costa Pacifica, which returns to Brazil after a four-year gap.

Along with the Costa Favolosa and the Costa Diadema, the 2009-built vessel offers a series of three- to nine-night cruises in the region that also feature ports in Argentina and Uruguay.

The seasonal programs in South America account for over 12 percent of the company’s capacity in 2024.

Other regions receiving a significant number of Costa’s itineraries and ships include the Middle East, the Caribbean and the Atlantic Islands.
