The Costa Serena made her maiden call at the Port of Yokohama on October 7, 2026.
A team of 15 members from Yokohama’s Port and Harbor Bureau, including those from Cruise Promotion and Technical teams, welcomed Captain Orazio D’Aita and his crew.
A commemorative plaque exchange was held onboard to mark the occasion.
Following the ceremony, the team was invited for a tour of the ship, which the port said provided an opportunity to further strengthen its relationship with Costa Cruises.
Costa previously shared that the October 7 itinerary would visit destinations including Kobe, Nagasaki, Busan (Korea) and Kanazawa before ending in Hokkaido (Hakodate).
The 2007-built ship is operating its farewell season in Asia after sailing in the region for more than a decade.
It is set to reposition to the Western Hemisphere with a 65-night world cruise departing from Tokyo to Buenos Aires on October 18, visiting Australia, the South Pacific and South America.
It will then sail a winter season in South America from November 2026 to April 2027 before repositioning to Europe in late April 2027 to operate Mediterranean itineraries.
