Cordelia Cruises shared more facts about the Cordelia Sky and its drydock as the ship is prepared to launch service later this year.
Originally built for Norwegian Cruise Line, the 2,000-guest vessel will make its debut in India on October 23, 2026.
In a series of social media updates, Cordelia said that the Sky is undergoing technical maintenance and general cleaning, in addition to a livery change.
Approximately 300 crew members are onboard for the project, which is taking place at a shipyard in Yalova, Turkey.
The company noted that over 30,000 liters of paint are being used during the process, with 8,000 liters necessary for just one coating of the ship’s hull.
Cordelia said that the 77,000-ton vessel uses over 1,300 kilometers of electrical cables to power its systems, public areas and staterooms, adding that the length is equivalent to the distance between the Indian cities of Delhi and Mumbai.
Each of the ship’s three anchors weighs roughly 9.7 tons, or the same as two elephants, the company added.
The former Norwegian Sky is also equipped with 1,834 doors, in addition to 835 windows on the outside of its decks.
The company said that the ship’s six engines can produce 69,000 horsepower in normal operating conditions, with 80 percent of it being used by the propulsion system.
With the vessel currently in drydock, only one engine is being used to generate approximately 3,600 kW of energy.
The Cordelia Sky will soon start more engines to begin a repositioning voyage to Mumbai, which will operate with no guests onboard.
As part of its inaugural season, the 1999-built vessel offers a series of short cruises to destinations in India, including Goa and Lakshadweep.
The ship is also scheduled to offer longer cruises to Southeast Asia sailing from Chennai and Singapore starting in August 2027.
