Cordelia Cruises is sharing a behind-the-scenes look at the drydock of the new Cordelia Sky, which is scheduled to enter service for the company in October.

Handed over by Norwegian Cruise Line earlier this month, the 1999-built vessel is currently undergoing updates at a shipyard in Turkey.

In a series of social media posts, Cordelia is sharing the progress of the work, which started in mid-September.

“A cruise ship doesn’t just enter drydock. There’s a lot of engineering behind getting a ship this size safely out of the water,” the company said in a video.

According to Cordelia, the vessel is seeing work around the clock as part of a project including hull, propellers and stabilizer cleaning.

The 77,000-ton ship is also introducing a new livery that includes Cordelia Cruises’ logo on its funnel and hull.

According to Cordelia, the former Norwegian Sky will offer 11 bars and lounges, in addition to 11 dining venues and five entertainment areas.

The ship has approximately 1,000 staterooms, including the Chairman’s Suite, which offers a private balcony with a whirlpool.

The Cordelia Sky will embark on its maiden season on October 23, 2026, kicking off a series of two- to five-night cruises from Mumbai.

Sailing to other destinations in India, the short cruises will be highlighted by visits to Lakshadweep and Goa.

The 2,000-passenger ship is also scheduled to offer longer itineraries to Southeast Asia starting in June 2027.

Visiting ports in Malaysia and Thailand, the cruises will sail between Chennai and Singapore through late August 2027.

Cordelia is also adding the Norwegian Sun to its fleet in 2027, as part of a long-term charter deal with Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings.

The 2001-built vessel will become the Cordelia Sun next September, joining the Cordelia Sky and the Cordelia Empress for cruises from Mumbai.
