The Carnival Freedom is on its way to Barcelona to welcome its first guests following its 35-day drydock in France.
The ship entered the Chantier Naval de Marseille shipyard in Marseille, France, in early September.
Following the drydock, it is set to arrive in Barcelona, Spain, on Oct. 9 and welcome guests aboard for an eight-day Mediterranean cruise before going on a 13-day Carnival Journeys transatlantic voyage.
The ship will arrive in Port Canaveral on Oct. 30, where it will homeport through May 2027, before repositioning to Norfolk, Virginia.
The Freedom now debuts a new whale tail funnel, which the company said would allow it to access additional ports. Its original funnel was damaged by a lightning strike in March 2024.
It also received other enhancements, including a redesigned casino with more than 100 additional gaming machines, a refreshed video arcade, updated retail spaces and accessibility improvements.
Like the Radiance and Legend before it, the Freedom will now also sport the “From Sea to Shining Sea” bow crest, which Carnival debuted in honor of USA’s 250th anniversary.
Carnival also opened reservations for the ship’s 2028-29 season.
Its new itineraries will depart from Norfolk, Virginia through April 2029 and feature six- to eight-day sailings to The Bahamas, Bermuda, the Eastern Caribbean and Canada.
They will also visit Celebration Key, RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, Amber Cove and more.
