Princess Cruises ended its sales operations in Taiwan on Aug. 31, 2026, according to a report by Taiwan News.

Mentioning a local source, the publication said that Princess is no longer taking new bookings through its local operating entity.

While existing reservations and overall scheduled sailings remain unchanged, operations of the Taiwan branch are being discontinued.

Taiwan News noted that Princess is ending its direct presence in the country, closing websites, social media platforms and local sales operations.

With a history of homeporting cruise operations in Keelung, the company had been present in Taiwan since 2013.

Local sales will now be handled through Princess’ international website or other overseas sales channels.

Planned itineraries that include visits to ports in Taiwan will be operated as scheduled, with no changes expected.

Speaking to Taiwan News, Taiwan International Ports Corporation Chair Chou Yung-Hui said that closure of Princess’ local operation is considered a strategic decision.

He noted that Taiwan will continue to seek opportunities to expand the market, adding that the corporation has seen a significant number of cruise lines making maiden calls at Keelung and Kaohsiung.

Taiwan News said that the decision to leave Taiwan comes as Carnival Corporation adjusts its sales operations across Asia.

The news source added that the company ended other local operations, including entities in China, Hong Kong and South Korea. Offices in Japan and Singapore were retained.

In related news, Costa Cruises is ending its cruise operations in Asia later this year, with the Costa Serena scheduled to reposition to South America.

Previously one of the largest operators in the Far East and Southeast Asia, the Carnival brand had been sailing year-round in the region for over two decades.

For its final season in Asia, the 3,012-passenger ship is offering itineraries from ports in Japan and Taiwan.
