Holland America Line has revealed what the Ocean Bar aboard the Oosterdam will look like following its Evolution upgrades.
The redesigned venue will feature a new stage, refreshed lounge spaces and a reimagined layout designed to connect guests more closely with the performances, the cruise line said in a press release.
The ship is set to offer eight itineraries and 15 departure dates across Europe, the Caribbean and North America starting in late 2027, after its Fall drydock.
“With the new Ocean Bar, we wanted to draw on the qualities that have made travel by sea so enduring, from its sense of elegance and occasion to the connections created along the way,” said Michael Stendebach, senior vice president of food, beverage and rooms division for Holland America Line.
“Inspired by our maritime heritage, including design details drawn from Rotterdam V, this reimagined venue creates a setting where guests can gather for a cocktail, enjoy live music and immerse themselves in the refined elegance that has always been part of the Holland America experience.”
The transformation introduces a new stage designed to showcase a wider range of programming, from regional soloists and pianists to Vivace Strings performances and late-night cabaret.
A redesigned bar, strategically relocated to create a stronger connection to the performances, is envisaged as a focal point for the venue, with refreshed furnishings upholstered in fabrics made from recycled materials.
Combined with redesigned seating areas and a more open layout, the result is a venue that feels both familiar and new, blending Art Deco elegance with nautical influences.
Custom furnishings developed specifically for the venue feature details inspired by vintage travel trunks and luggage, including leather accents.
The refurbishment forms part of the cruise line’s largest fleet update in its 153-year history.
Following the Oosterdam, the Zuiderdam was named as the second of six ships to receive upgrades as part of the program.
Holland America recently shared that the two ships would get new bandstands at the Lido Pool as part of their Evolution transformation.
