Carnival Cruise Line’s Brand Ambassador John Heald has provided an update on recent weather conditions impacting the company’s ships.

As previously reported by Cruise Industry News, the Carnival Sunshine, the Carnival Venezia and the Carnival Panorama are among the vessels that had to adjust itineraries due to storms in the Atlantic and Pacific.

“I wanted to say thank you on behalf of everybody at Carnival Cruise Line; we know there has been a lot of bad weather with the so-called nor’easter,” Heald said.

“There has been some pretty rough weather around, and it has affected some cruises, with some missed ports,” Heald continued.

“This bad weather didn’t just affect one area; it was a massive area, which rolled on down towards some of the ports towards the Bahamas areas, so we had a few missed calls at RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, Celebration Key and a couple of other places,” he added.

Heald mentioned the Carnival Sunshine, which was scheduled to return to its homeport in Norfolk on Sunday, September 27, 2026, but had to be delayed by approximately 24 hours.

He added that the Carnival Pride was also delayed in its return to Baltimore over the weekend, starting a cruise to the Bahamas later than scheduled.

“I want to say thank you to everybody, including guests who are onboard and may have missed a port or are delayed in return to their homeports. We know that this is disappointing and sometimes messes up with your schedule for this coming week,” he continued while also thanking guests waiting to board delayed cruises for their patience.

Hurricane Polo has also affected ships in the Pacific over the weekend, impacting itineraries to the Mexican Riviera and the Pacific.

Sailing to Hawaii from Seattle, the Carnival Spirit was another ship that had to adjust its itinerary due to weather conditions in the region, according to guest reports.

The 15-night cruise sailed from the Washington homeport on September 23, 2026, and includes visits to Honolulu, Nawiliwili, Kahului, Hilo and Victoria.

While all ports are still set to be visited, the itinerary will now be operated in a different order, in an effort to prioritize guests’ comfort and safety.

The Carnival Luminosa also had to cancel planned visits to Alaska as part of its 19-night transpacific cruise to Japan.

Heald said that schedule changes are related to the safety of guests, crew and ships, while thanking the company’s Fleet Operations Center.

“This is the most incredible place … with men and women working 24 hours, looking at weather and liaising with the captain and making sure that everything is said and they get all the information they need,” he explained, also thanking the officers and crew of the affected ships.
