MSC Cruises announced that the MSC Meraviglia will make its debut in South America during the 2027-28 winter season.
Joining the company’s lineup in the region, the 4,500-passenger vessel will offer itineraries to Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay.
The move was revealed by Adrian Ursilli, MSC’s country manager in Brazil, during a recent industry event in Brasília.
“MSC remains firm in its commitment to continue investing in the country, generating jobs, generating opportunities, businesses and partnerships to develop this sector and the entire economy of our country, which is so important for our future growth,” he said.
Ursilli noted that with the debut of the 2017-built ship in South America, MSC is introducing a larger and more modern vessel to the region.
“The Meraviglia will take over the itineraries that will be offered by the MSC Seaview from Santos in 2026-27, increasing our capacity in this port that is very important to us and strategic to Brazil,” he added during a panel at the 8th CLIA Brazil Forum.
In addition to the Meraviglia, MSC’s 2027-28 season in South America will feature the MSC Virtuosa, the MSC Divina, the MSC Splendida and the MSC Musica.
The five ships will offer cruises from eight homeports in Brazil and Argentina, including Santos, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Buenos Aires.
The operation will mark the first time that MSC operates two Meraviglia-class ships in South America. For the second consecutive season, all of the company’s ships in the region will also offer the Yacht Club suite complex.
MSC said that itinerary details will be revealed soon, with bookings for the new season expected to open in coming weeks.
The MSC Meraviglia was initially scheduled to sail in the Southern Caribbean during the South American season timeframe, with itineraries departing from Martinique and Guadeloupe.
After cancelling its planned cruises in the Middle East for the 2027-28 season, MSC promoted a wider redeployment initiative that saw the new MSC World Asia taking over Meraviglia’s planned itineraries.
