Adora Cruises announced the appointment of Li Bin as captain of the Adora Mediterranea.
He is the second Chinese national to take the helm at one of the cruise line’s ships, the first one being Captain Wei Zhiyi for the Adora Magic City in March.
Captain Li brings more than 20 years of seafaring experience, with a professional background in maritime operations and extensive management experience aboard large cruise ships.
In May, he also participated in Adora Flora City’s sea trials.
“Building a professional cruise operations team has always been one of Adora Cruises’ core priorities, with a strong focus on attracting and developing talent,” stated Adora.
“The appointment of Chinese captains to both Adora Magic City and Adora Mediterranea marks another significant milestone in advancing the localization of cruise industry talent and strengthening our maritime operational capabilities.”
Looking ahead, the cruise line said it will accelerate the development of high-level, multidisciplinary maritime professionals, helping create a “China model” for cruise industry talent development.
Having undergone a scheduled drydock at COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry in May, the Adora Mediterranea started its 2026 Tianjin season in June, during which it will operate 25 voyages.
