Holland America Line’s Volendam sailed from Boston in late June for a 28-night cruise to Canada, Iceland and Greenland.
As part of the company’s Legendary Voyages program, the month-long itinerary includes visits to 15 ports of call in the three regions.
Highlights of the cruise include stops in lesser-visited ports, such as Heimaey in the Westman Islands, Djupivogur in Iceland and Saint Pierre et Miquelon in Canada.
Other destinations set to be visited by the Volendam include Nanortalik and Qaqortoq in Greenland, as well as Isafjord, Akureyri and Reykjavik in Iceland.
Before returning to Boston in late July, the 1999-built ship is also scheduled to stop in Portland, Sydney, St. John’s, Corner Brooke, Iles de la Madeleine and Halifax.
The itinerary is also highlighted by overnight stays in key ports of call, including St. John’s, Reykjavik and Halifax.
According to Holland America, its Legendary Voyages offer immersive destination experiences that feature special onboard programming.
Described as “epic journeys that weave the ceremony and splendor,” the itineraries offer enriching activities onboard, such as destination-themed parties, string ensembles and special port-focused presentations.
Upon completing its 28-night voyage to Canada, Greenland and Iceland, the Volendam is scheduled to resume its summer season in Canada and New England.
Extending through the fall, the deployment includes seven- to 14-night itineraries departing from Boston and Montreal.
In early October, the ship repositions to New York for another Legendary Voyage: a 45-night cruise to the Mediterranean and Western Europe.
Sailing roundtrip from North America, the itinerary features visits to destinations in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Malta and Tunisia.
Following a month-long voyage to the Amazon and a 14-night cruise to the Caribbean, the Volendam is also scheduled to offer Holland America’s Grand World Voyage.
The 129-night cruise sails roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale in early January 2027, visiting ports in South America, the South Pacific, Southeast Asia, the Indian Ocean, Africa and more.
