The Costa Fortuna recently repositioned to the Mediterranean for its final season in service for Costa Cruises.

After 23 years sailing for the Carnival-owned brand, the 103,000-ton vessel is set to be handed over to Margaritaville at Sea in September.

As previously reported by Cruise Industry News, the ship will undergo a major refurbishment before debuting as the Margaritaville at Sea Beachcomber in early 2027.

Currently the oldest vessel in Costa’s fleet, the Fortuna spent the last few months offering winter cruises in the Canary Islands.

In early April, the 2003-built vessel kicked off a repositioning cruise back to the Mediterranean ahead of a summer deployment in the region.

The season started with a 14-night itinerary that sails from Italy, Spain and France to Tunisia, Greece and Istanbul.

In addition to visiting Barcelona, Marseille, Savona, Civitavecchia, Messina, Izmir, Piraeus and Tunisia, the cruise features an overnight call to Istanbul.

In May, the Costa Fortuna is scheduled to reposition to the Eastern Mediterranean for weeklong cruises to Greece and Turkey.

Sailing from Istanbul and Piraeus, the seven-night itineraries are highlighted by visits to a wide range of destinations, including Izmir, Mykonos, Volos, Santorini, Heraklion and Rhodes.

The ship’s final cruise for Costa is scheduled to depart the port of Piraeus on September 4, 2026.

After becoming the Margaritaville at Sea Beachcomber, the 3,000-passenger ship is scheduled to offer cruises departing from PortMiami.

As the largest ship in the company’s fleet, the vessel will join the Margaritaville at Sea Islander and the Margaritaville at Sea Paradise for cruises to the Caribbean and the Bahamas.

In addition to redesigned staterooms and public areas, the ship will also offer a series of new features, such as Cowboy in the Jungle, a speakeasy-style hideaway.

The Beachcomber will also offer the largest staterooms onboard the company’s fleet with the debut of two Bridge Wing Suites.
