Viking recently revealed plans for its 2027 newbuild, which will carry the name Viking Astrea.

Following the Viking Mira and the Viking Libra, the 998-guest vessel will be the third to enter service for the company in a 12-month timeframe.

Currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, the Viking Astrea is scheduled to welcome guests for its maiden cruise in June 2027.

Sailing from Venice, the ship’s inaugural voyage features visits to five destinations around Italy and Croatia.

Before arriving in Civitavecchia, the seven-night itinerary sails to Šibenik, Bari, Crotone, Messina and Naples.

After an additional sailing in the Mediterranean, the ship repositions to Northern Europe via a 14-night cruise to Bergen.

Departing from Barcelona, the cruise features visits to Cartagena and Málaga in Spain, as well as Porto in Portugal and Le Havre in France.

The open-jaw itinerary also features ports of call in England, the Netherlands and Belgium, such as Falmouth, Portsmouth, Amsterdam and Zeebrugge.

Upon arriving in Norway, the new ship kicks off a series of 14-night cruises to the British Isles and Ireland.

The itineraries feature visits to over ten destinations, such as Cork, Londonderry, Greenock and Belfast, and will be offered through early September 2027.

Before taking delivery of the Viking Astrea, Viking welcomes the Viking Mira and the Viking Libra to its fleet in 2026.

The company is also set to take delivery of the new Viking Vesta from the Fincantieri shipyard in early July 2025.

In addition to the four newbuilds, the Italian shipbuilder is scheduled to deliver four other ships to the company between 2028 and 2030.

All the new vessels share a similar design with the Viking Star, which entered service in 2015 as Viking’s first-ever oceangoing ship.
