Norwegian Aqua Completes Maiden Voyage in Southampton

Norwegian Aqua

Norwegian Cruise Line has concluded the maiden voyage of its new ship, the Norwegian Aqua.

After being delivered by the Fincantieri shipyard earlier this month, the ship sailed from Lisbon, Portugal, to Southampton, England, with over 2,000 invited guests onboard.

According to a press release, the passengers experienced the newest innovations and offerings of the brand.

“This was a milestone moment for Norwegian Cruise Line as we set sail aboard Norwegian Aqua, a ship designed to offer our guests more – more wide-open space, more thrills, more culinary experiences and more immersive entertainment,” said David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line.

“During this inaugural season, we look forward to welcoming our travel partners from around the world and to give them the exclusivity of being the first to experience our newest product and to fully understand how guests can ‘Experience More at Sea’ with us,” he added.

Following its inaugural voyage, the Norwegian Aqua is set to embark on a trans-Atlantic voyage to the United States, where it will be officially christened in Miami on April 13, 2025.

Emmy Award-winning actor Eric Stonestreet will serve as the ship’s godfather during the ceremony.

The Norwegian Aqua will then homeport in Miami and Port Canaveral, as well as New York City, offering itineraries to the Bahamas, Caribbean and Bermuda until March 2027.

As the second ship in the Prima Plus Class, the Norwegian Luna is set to enter service for Norwegian Cruise Line in 2026.
