MSC Magnifica Completes 15 Years of Service

MSC Magnifica

The MSC Magnifica has recently completed 15 years of service for MSC Cruises after being delivered to the company on Feb. 25, 2010.

As the fourth ship in MSC’s Musica class, the vessel was built at the STX Europe shipyard in St. Nazaire, France.

With a slightly modified design from its sisters, the Magnifica introduced new features to the class, including a glass-covered pool deck, an enlarged self-service restaurant and a bowling alley.

After being delivered to MSC, the 89,600-ton ship left St. Nazaire with 600 guests onboard for a pre-inaugural cruise to Southampton.

The vessel then returned to the French port before departing for Hamburg for its official christening ceremony.

With Sofia Loren serving as the ship’s godmother, the ceremony took place at the Elbe River on March 1, 2010.

As part of its inaugural season, the MSC Magnifica offered cruises to the Eastern Mediterranean departing from Venice.

During the summer, the vessel offered seven-night cruises that featured visits to destinations in Greece, Italy, Croatia and Turkey, including Bari, Katakolon, Izmir, Istanbul and Dubrovnik.

The Magnifica remained in the region for the winter season, offering ten- and 11-night cruises that also sailed to Cyprus, Israel and Egypt.

The ship later debuted in different destinations, including Northern Europe, South America, the Caribbean and the Bahamas.

After completing a year-round program of short cruises to the latter in late 2024, the ship embarked on a world cruise in January.

The 120-night itinerary will include visits to 45 destinations before ending in the Italian port of Genoa in early May.

The MSC Magnifica then kicks off a summer program in the Western Mediterranean that includes seven-night cruises to Italy, Sicily, Malta, France and Spain.

In January 2026, the ship embarks on a new world cruise, which will sail to ports of call in Europe, North America, the Caribbean, the Pacific, Australia, Asia and the Middle East.
