Costa Cruises celebrated its operations in the Brazilian city of Balneário Camboriú with a plaque exchange ceremony onboard the Costa Pacifica.
According to a press release, the event took place onboard the vessel during a visit to the destination in Santa Catarina state on Jan. 28, 2025.
The ceremony commemorated Costa’s “strong presence” in Balneário Camboriú this season, the company stated.
In addition to the Costa Pacifica, the Costa Favolosa is scheduled to make regular visits to the port of call during the 2024-25 season.
After starting its South America season in November, Costa is set for nearly 30 stops at the destination through late March.
“For Costa, Balneário Camboriú is more than just a port of call; it has become an extremely strategic destination for our growth in Brazil,” said Dario Rustico, Costa Cruises’ executive president for the Americas.
“By making 28 stops in the city with two ships this season, we reaffirm our commitment to promoting the cruise sector in South Brazil, offering our guests unique experiences both onboard and on land, while also driving the city’s tourism and economic development,” he added.
The ship’s officers were joined by Costa executives and local authorities during the ceremony, which also included a ship tour and a special lunch.
Guests were hosted by Costa Pacifica’s Captain, Stefano Boccaccio, along with Dario Rustico, Costa’s executive president for the Americas, and Renê Hermann, the company’s institutional president of the company in Brazil.
Balneário Camboriú’s Mayor, Juliana Pavan, was also onboard, along with Vice Mayor Nilson Probst and the Vice President of the City Council, Jade Martins Ribeiro.
Other guests included the city’s Secretary of Tourism, Evandro Neiva, and Marco Ferraz, executive president of CLIA Brazil, along with directors from Atracadouro Barra Sul and the Port Authority of Santos.
