Carnival Luminosa to Debut in San Francisco in 2026

Carnival Luminosa

After joining Carnival Cruise Line’s fleet in 2022, the Carnival Luminosa is set to debut in a new homeport in 2026.

Joining the company’s lineup on the West Coast, the 2009-built ship will offer itineraries departing from San Francisco.

According to a recent press release, the Carnival Luminosa will sail to Alaska and Mexico during the summer of 2026.

The schedule includes a series of ten-night cruises to Alaska and Canada, as well as four-night weekend cruises to Baja.

With departures available on Mondays and Thursdays, the longer itineraries feature visits to Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan and Prince Rupert, as well as scenic glacier cruising through Tracy Arm Fjord.

The ship’s four-day weekend cruises sail to Baja, Mexico, featuring a visit to Ensenada, in addition to two days at sea.

Starting on April 23, Carnival Luminosa’s inaugural season in San Francisco runs through September 10, 2026.

Repositioning from Australia, the 2,260-guest ship also offers a 22-day Carnival Journey cruise in early April 2026.

The voyage sails from Brisbane to San Francisco and includes stops at destinations in Tahiti and the Pacific Ocean, including Fiji, Tahiti, Moorea, and Honolulu.

Upon completing its itineraries on North America’s West Coast, the Carnival Luminosa offers an 18-day cruise to Alaska and Japan.

As part of the company’s Carnival Journeys program, the cruise departs from San Francisco on September 20, 2026.

Before arriving in Yokohama, Japan, the itinerary includes stops in Otaru and Kobe, as well as popular destinations in Alaska.

In addition to the Luminosa, Carnival’s 2026 schedule in Alaska also includes the Carnival Miracle and the Carnival Spirit sailing from Seattle.

According to the company, the three Spirit-class ships are set to offer 53 cruises to the region during the summer.

Earlier this week, along with Luminosa’s first season in San Francisco, Carnival also revealed 2026 deployment plans for the Carnival Horizon, the Carnival Vista and the Carnival Sunshine.
