AmaWaterways has opened its 2028 program for reservations, featuring four new ships, new itineraries and expanded land experiences across Europe and beyond
The new season will introduce four new ships across Europe and Africa, alongside new itineraries and expanded land experiences in European destinations, paired with those in Colombia, Egypt, Africa and Vietnam.
“We’re always looking ahead and thinking about how we can continue to evolve the AmaWaterways experience and bring our guests closer to the destinations they visit,” said Catherine Powell, CEO of AmaWaterways.
“Our 2028 journeys reflects that vision, with new ways to explore, discover and connect, both on board and on shore. We’re excited about what’s to come and the opportunities it creates for our guests to experience the world with us in new and meaningful ways.”
Four New Ships
On the Rhine, the AmaMaria will debut with 76 staterooms and the next-generation design and layout introduced aboard its sister ship, the AmaFiora, debuting in April 2027.
In Portugal, the AmaGaia will join the AmaDouro and AmaSintra on the Douro River, alongside an additional new ship.
This will give guests more opportunities to experience the region, complemented by extended sailing season through November and December.
In Africa, a new ship on the Chobe River will join the Zambezi Queen.
This is in line with the company’s ambition for its fleet to reach more than 50 ships by 2032, as recently reported by Cruise Industry News.
The company also highlighted a new 10- and 11-night “Elegance of Burgundy & Provence itinerary” aboard the AmaCello, available in July and August 2028.
Sailing along the Rhône and Saône rivers, the new itinerary gives guests more time in port to discover the wine regions, historic towns and culinary traditions of Burgundy and Provence.
The company is also expanding its collection of pre- and post-cruise land experiences available on select itineraries.
This includes three-night packages available for Krakow and Brussels, two nights for Nuremberg, Germany; Lyon, Aix-en-Provence and Dijon, France; Porto, Portugal; Basel, Switzerland; and Luxembourg.
