VIVA Cruises Reveals 2028 River Season with 325 Sailings Across 7 Ships

  • October 19, 2026
Porto Mirante

VIVA Cruises has unveiled its 2028 river cruise season, featuring an expanded program of 325 sailings across seven ships to mark the company’s 10th anniversary.

The anniversary season will include new itineraries, increased departures and a collection of themed cruises, offering more opportunities to explore Europe’s waterways, including the Rhine, Main, Moselle, Danube and Douro rivers, as well as itineraries through the canals of Germany and the Baltic coast.

It follows the announcement of the 2028 program for its VIVA Boutique line in France and Italy.

“As we celebrate 10 years of VIVA Cruises, we’re proud of how far we’ve come and excited for what lies ahead,” said Nasim Ghannadian, vice president sales & marketing North America of VIVA Cruises.

“Our 2028 season reflects that momentum, with more itineraries, expanded departures and unique onboard experiences that give travelers even more ways to discover Europe. We look forward to marking this milestone with our guests and continuing to deliver the exceptional river cruising experiences that define VIVA Cruises.”

What’s New for 2028

The cruise line said that Vienna will play an even greater role in the 2028 cruise program, paired with an extended offer of roundtrip cruises on the Rhine, Moselle and Danube.

After undergoing extensive renovation in 2027, the Viva Moments will join the company’s Danube fleet, offering new seven-night itineraries between Passau, Vienna and Budapest.

The Viva Enjoy will offer even more seven-night cruises roundtrip from Vienna with 22 departures, with Regensburg introduced as an additional turnaround port.

The Viva Two introduces new five-night Danube cruises connecting Passau, Vienna, Budapest and Bratislava.

The Viva One increases its seven-night Moselle roundtrips from Düsseldorf from 10 to 15 departures, while introducing new four-night Rhine cruises in November and December, visiting destinations including Bonn, Mainz and Koblenz.

The ship will also operate an Ambassador Cruise, a special journey for loyal guests of the company.

Another highlight is a new 10-night cruises aboard the Viva Ruby, offering the opportunity to discover three countries in one journey: from Basel in Switzerland, via Nancy in France,  to Düsseldorf in Germany.

The 2028 season will also introduce more themed departures, centered around music, culinary exploration, wine and entertainment, including:

  • seven-night Jazz Cruises featuring pianist Frank Muschalle aboard the Viva One
  • seven Crime Cruises aboard the Viva Ruby
  • culinary-focused sailings aboard the Viva Enjoy along the Danube River and the Porto Mirante along the Douro River
  • Wine cruises aboard the Viva Moments and Viva Ruby, featuring exclusive experiences with Masters of Wine.

Complementing the offer are 320 shore excursions across 13 river regions, offering everything from cultural discoveries and regional flavors to exclusive experiences in smaller groups.
