Adora Cruises announced that the Adora Magic City and Adora Mediterranea simultaneously celebrated China’s National Day (October 1) while at sea.
In a press release, the company said the Adora Magic City departed Shanghai for a seven-day National Day voyage. The Adora Mediterranea set sail from Tianjin on a seven-day National Day itinerary on the same day.
Guests can offer wishes to the motherland during a flag-raising ceremony at sea.
During the National Day sailings, the Adora Magic City and Adora Mediterranea will offer guests a program of themed activities.
Guests will have the opportunity to take part in:
- National Day-themed parties
- Onboard singing events
- National Day trivia quizzes, and
- Cultural heritage craft workshops.
The press release added that as the Adora Magic City departed, guests watched the Wusongkou drone and fireworks display from the ship’s deck.
The Adora Mediterranea will partner with the National Peking Opera Company to offer the themed sailing “Peking Opera Sets Sail.”
The company added that guests can also enjoy:
- Picking Up the Jade Bracelet
- Sanchakou
- Farewell My Concubine
- Selling Water, and
- Havoc in Heaven.
Guests will also see performances such as Face Changing, Drunkenness and Hong Niang, and attend lectures on Peking Opera culture.
Interactive experiences will also be offered, including opera facial-mask painting, Peking Opera-inspired paper cutting and opera knowledge quizzes.
The Adora Mediterranea will additionally incorporate Peking Opera pop-up performances into its ancient Egyptian “Golden Nile” party, creating a distinctive East-meets-West themed celebration.
