Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas is currently returning to North America after undergoing a significant refurbishment in Europe.
Having completed a summer program sailing from the United Kingdom, the Freedom-class ship kicked off a repositioning voyage to Galveston on October 16, 2026.
Sailing from Southampton, the 15-night cruise will visit destinations in Spain and Portugal, such as Vigo, Lisbon, and Funchal, before arriving in Texas.
The ship will then embark on a year-round program of short cruises to the Western Caribbean from its homeport in Galveston.
The four- and five-night itineraries feature visits to destinations in Mexico, including Cozumel and Costa Maya.
In addition to the short cruises, the 3,812-passenger ship will also offer longer itineraries on select dates, including a nine-night voyage in August 2027.
Sailing to the Western Caribbean, the sailing features visits to Cozumel, Roatán, George Town and Falmouth.
The deployment from Galveston runs through April 2028, when the Liberty is scheduled to return to Europe for a summer season.
Marking the vessel’s return to the Mediterranean, the schedule in the region will include departures from Barcelona, Piraeus and Civitavecchia.
The Liberty of the Seas underwent a refit earlier this year in France as part of the Royal Amplified program.
In addition to additional staterooms, the 2007-built ship introduced a series of enhancements and updates that include major changes to public areas.
Royal Caribbean added new venues to the vessel, including a Starbucks and Izumi Teppanyaki, which offers Japanese cuisine and a hibachi experience.
The project also included the expansion of the vessel’s Casino Royale and the debut of the Royal Escape Room concept, in addition to a refreshed pool deck with a look inspired by the Caribbean.
Upon completing the refit in May, the Liberty of the Seas embarked on a series of cruises departing from Southampton.
