The Eurodam made its inaugural visit to Acapulco earlier this year, marking the return of Holland America Line to the destination after 17 years.
According to Administración del Sistema Portuario Nacional Acapulco, S.A. (ASIPONA Acapulco), the ship arrived with 2,039 guests and 874 crew members onboard.
To celebrate the milestone, ASIPONA Acapulco hosted a special welcome event onboard the Eurodam, which included a plaque exchange ceremony.
The port authority said that representatives from different levels of the Mexican government were onboard, including Briseida Rodríguez Bustamante, operations and engineering manager of ASIPONA Acapulco, and Raymundo Sánchez López, general manager of ports administration.
The officials were welcomed on the bridge by the Eurodam’s captain, Jeroen van Donselaar, and other ship officers.
ASIPONA Acapulco said that the ceremony strengthened its ties with Holland America, fostering a closer partnership between the company and the port authority.
The port authority also highlighted the role of Acapulco Cruise Port (GPH), which coordinated logistics for the visit of the 86,273-ton vessel.
“The arrival of the Eurodam cruise ship is a vote of confidence in Acapulco as a tourist destination, while also reaffirming its historical importance among navigation routes in the Mexican Pacific,” ASIPONA Acapulco said.
The Eurodam is currently offering a repositioning voyage to Fort Lauderdale after completing a summer season in Alaska and British Columbia.
Sailing from San Diego to Fort Lauderdale, the 16-night cruise includes visits to destinations in Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Aruba.
Carnival Cruise Line also returned to Acapulco in late 2025, with the Carnival Legend ending a 15-year hiatus.
At the time, the vessel made an unexpected visit to the port after its itinerary was changed due to weather.
The company is now making two additional calls to Acapulco this year with the Carnival Firenze, which is scheduled to sail to the port in October and November.
Norwegian Cruise Line is also visiting the destination this year with two ships: the Norwegian Star and the Norwegian Bliss.
