Travelmarvel has celebrated the maiden voyage of the Sirius, with guests embarking on the vessel’s first journey along Egypt’s legendary Nile River.

The occasion marks the company’s return to Egypt and the start of a new chapter in its river cruise offering.

The company said in a press release that, continuing Travelmarvel’s tradition of naming its ships after stars and constellations, the Sirius takes its name from the brightest star in the night sky, itself a nod to Egyptian history and astronomy.

The season is now underway, with the first guests having embarked on the Sirius in Luxor after beginning their journey in Cairo.

Across the maiden voyage, travelers visited ancient sites including Karnak Temple, the Valley of the Kings and Queens, Abu Simbel and Philae Temple.

The press release said each itinerary is designed for a relaxed pace, giving guests ample time to immerse themselves in the destinations.

The Sirius is designed specifically for the Nile and combines contemporary comfort with design influences drawn from Egyptian history and culture.

The ship offers shore excursions led by Tour Directors who are fully qualified Egyptologists, the company added.

Onboard highlights include multiple dining venues, local entertainment celebrating Egyptian culture, and a sun deck complete with a pool.

The inaugural voyage was marked with a sail-away celebration, as guests and crew gathered to commemorate the occasion and the beginning of this new chapter on the Nile.

Americans can now book sailings on the Sirius for 2028.
