Semester at Sea welcomed guests onboard the World Odyssey earlier this month for its Fall 2026 World Voyage.

The 105-night educational cruise sailed from the Dutch Port of IJmuiden on September 9, 2026, and will visit destinations in four continents.

According to the company, the itinerary was designed to allow guests to study aboard while calling at ports in Europe, Africa, South America and Asia.

In addition to university students who can earn academic credits, the cruise welcomes lifelong learners for an experience that mixes onboard coursework with hands-on cultural activities at each port.

After sailing from the Netherlands, the World Odyssey is scheduled to sail to Leixões, Portugal; Casablanca, Morocco; Salvador da Bahia, Brazil; Jamestown, St. Helena; Cape Town, South Africa; and Port Louis, Mauritius.

Before ending in Bangkok, Thailand, the itinerary also includes visits to destinations in Asia, including Colombo, Sri Lanka; Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; and Hong Kong.

According to Semester at Sea, most of the destinations will welcome the 1998-built ship for five- to six-day calls.

Before kicking off Semester at Sea’s 138th World Voyage, the World Odyssey was withdrawn from the Phoenix Reisen fleet.

The 1998-built vessel spent the last decade operating seasonally for the German cruise line as the Deutschland.

While Phoenix Reisen decided not to renew its charter agreement with the vessel’s owners, Semester at Sea is set to continue to operate it for the time being.

In addition to two world cruises during the 2026-27 season, the company’s schedule currently includes another world cruise for late 2027.

In related news, Semester at Sea recently adjusted the itinerary of its Spring 2027 World Voyage due to infrastructure problems in Indonesia.

As reported by Cruise Industry News, a planned visit to Surabaya was replaced with a five-day call to Penang in Malaysia.
