Norwegian Cruise Line is adjusting the itinerary of the current cruise onboard the Norwegian Escape due to adverse weather conditions in North America’s East Coast.

Sailing roundtrip from New York City, the 2015-built ship is offering a seven-night cruise to Canada and New England.

After starting on September 18, 2026, the vessel visited Newport, Boston and Sydney as originally planned.

The final leg of the cruise, however, had to be changed to avoid the worst of a storm in the region, according to a statement issued onboard.

“Due to forecasted weather conditions associated with a developing nor’easter expected to impact the northeastern United States and Canada Atlantic coast, the Norwegian Escape will depart from Halifax earlier than originally scheduled,” Captain Simone Croci said in a letter to guests.

The 4,200-passenger vessel then departed from the Canadian port five hours earlier than initially planned on September 24, 2026, setting sail at 5:00 PM.

“Based on the latest forecasts and to allow the ship to safely navigate the region ahead of the storm’s expected strongest conditions, this adjustment is necessary to support our arrival into New York City,” Croci added.

According to the statement, the Norwegian Escape is also expected to dock at the homeport approximately seven hours earlier, arriving just after midnight on September 26.

“As always, the safety, comfort and well-being of our guests and crew remain our highest priority,” the letter added.

Norwegian added that shore excursions booked through the company for Halifax were adjusted to match the new port times.

Tours that could not be adapted to the new schedule were automatically cancelled, with full refunds issued to guests’ onboard accounts.

Upon returning to New York City, the Norwegian Escape is scheduled to start a trans-Atlantic crossing to Barcelona. The 16-night voyage will feature visits to destinations in Canada, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom.
