Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings is reportedly dropping plans to develop a new cruise destination at Bermuda’s Daniel’s Head Property.

According to a report by Bernews, the cruise company signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Bermuda Land Management Company (BLMC) in July 2025 to assess the possibility of investing in the property.

The local news source said that the plan was to transform Daniel’s Head into a first-class day tourism product.

The 18-acre property is located in Sandys Parish, approximately six kilometers away from the Royal Naval Dockyard cruise port.

In a statement reproduced by Bernews, a representative from BLMC said that the MOU did not constitute an agreement to develop Daniel’s Head and did not include the granting of a lease.

“The discussions were exploratory, with any potential development subject to further conceptual and financial evaluation, as well as stakeholder engagement,” the spokesperson said.

BLMC also thanked NCLH for their invested time and effort, noting that Daniel’s Head remains “an exciting opportunity for Bermuda.”

“The property has been underutilized for many years, and we now have an opportunity to invite other experienced partners to put forward their vision for the site,” BLMC Chief Executive Officer Andrew Dias was quoted as saying.

He noted that the plan is to pursue a project that is “commercially sound, appropriate for the location and delivers meaningful benefits” for the destination.

Norwegian Cruise Line visits Bermuda on a regular basis as part of itineraries from various homeports on the U.S. East Coast.

In 2027, five of the company’s ships are scheduled to call at the Royal Naval Dockyard, including the Norwegian Bliss, the Norwegian Pearl, the Norwegian Breakaway and the Norwegian Prima.

One of the largest and newest ships in the fleet, the Norwegian Luna will also sail regularly to the port as part of its homeporting operations in New York City.
