The MSC Musica arrived at the Palumbo Malta Shipyard earlier this month to begin a significant refurbishment project.

As part of a four-ship upgrade program, the Musica-class vessel will spend approximately 45 days at the shipyard.

The ship will then emerge from drydock with a new Yacht Club space, as well as new specialty dining venues and updated public spaces.

MSC’s ship-within-a-ship complex will feature 63 suites, most of which will be created by combining smaller staterooms.

The premium product will also include new private areas, including a dedicated lounge, restaurant and sun deck.

As part of the refurbishment, the MSC Musica will also see the addition of two new specialty restaurants, including the Butcher’s Cut steakhouse and the Kaito Sushi Bar.

The ship is also introducing a new fitness center and gym, which will replace its former nightclub, while the MSC Aurea Spa will undergo a major upgrade.

The 92,400-ton ship is scheduled to leave the Palumbo shipyard in early November for a repositioning voyage to South America.

Sailing with no guests onboard, the vessel will cross the Atlantic before resuming service in Brazil on November 16, 2026.

The 2006-built ship will initially offer three- and four-night cruises to destinations in Rio de Janeiro, including Búzios and Ilha Grande.

In late December, the MSC Musica will reposition to Brazil’s Southern Coast for seven-night itineraries that sail from Paranaguá and Itajaí.

Set to be offered through March, the cruises will feature visits to Ilhabela, Ilha Grande, and Búzios, in addition to Rio de Janeiro, where guests will also be able to board the vessel.

The 2,550-passenger ship will return to Europe in mid-April to kick off a summer season in the Western Mediterranean. The Musica will offer seven-night cruises to Spain, France, and Italy through late October 2027.
