Aroya Cruises is adopting an interporting strategy for its deployment, according to Commercial Executive Director Ala Tashkandi.

The itineraries with multiple homeports were first adopted during this year’s summer season in the Mediterranean, which the Aroya wrapped up in September.

As previously reported by Cruise Industry News, the deployment included a series of cruises departing from Istanbul, Turkey. On selected sailings, passengers were also able to join the 3,500-guest ship in Alexandria.

“Interporting is an important part of how we are developing Aroya’s deployment strategy in a considered and guest-focused way,” Tashkandi explained.

“It gives guests greater flexibility in how they access the ship, while also allowing us to extend the reach of our itineraries into new and relevant source markets. Alexandria was a natural addition to the Mediterranean program this season,” he added.

The choice was said to have strengthened the itineraries in the region while enabling Aroya to serve demand from Egypt and surrounding markets more effectively.

“From a commercial perspective, it also gave our travel trade partners more ways to package, promote and sell our itineraries,” Tashkandi told Cruise Industry News.

He said that the operation is part of a broader strategy to make the company’s product more accessible for international guests, supporting its long-term ambition.

“The more seamless we make it for guests to join our sailings, the stronger our position becomes across source markets, distribution channels and destination partnerships.”

The model will be replicated in other sailing regions where it “adds clear operational and commercial value,” Tashkandi added.

“In our upcoming Red Sea season, we will introduce interporting in Sharm El Sheikh, creating another access point for guests and supporting the continued development of our regional cruise program.”

According to published deployment, Aroya is resuming interporting operations in Alexandria and Istanbul for its first winter season in the Mediterranean.

Guests will be able to board the Aroya at the two ports for seven-night itineraries to Egypt and Turkey between October 2026 and April 2027.
