The two newest ships in Celebrity Cruises’ fleet, the Celebrity Xcel and the Celebrity Ascent, recently met in Italy.
The vessels, both spending the summer in the Mediterranean, visited Naples simultaneously on August 27, 2026.
The Xcel visited the port as part of a seven-night cruise that departed from Barcelona and included destinations in Spain, France and Italy.
The Western Mediterranean itinerary also featured visits to Portofino, Nice, La Spezia and Rome before returning to Barcelona.
The Ascent docked at Naples’ Stazione Marittima Cruise Terminal during an 11-night cruise that combined ports of call in the Eastern and Western Mediterranean.
Sailing roundtrip from Civitavecchia, the itinerary featured visits to six ports in Italy, Greece and Turkey, including Mykonos and Santorini.
The cruise was also highlighted by an overnight visit to Istanbul, in addition to stops in Kusadasi and Souda Bay in Crete.
The Xcel and the Ascent are part of Celebrity’s Edge class and entered service in 2023 and 2025, respectively.
In addition to these two sister ships, the company’s summer season in Europe includes six other vessels.
The Celebrity Equinox and the Celebrity Constellation are also operating in the Mediterranean, while the Celebrity Eclipse and the Celebrity Apex are sailing to Northern Europe, the British Isles and Scandinavia.
The Celebrity Silhouette was another ship offering summer cruises in the region, having recently completed a series of itineraries in Iceland.
Sailing year-round in the region, the Celebrity Infinity offers itineraries in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Greek Islands.
While the other ships will reposition to North America starting in early November, the Millennium-class vessel will spend the winter sailing from the Spanish port of Barcelona.
