The new PhilaPort Cruise Terminal welcomed its first guests earlier this month after construction delays.

According to a statement issued by Norwegian Cruise Line, the new facility opened on August 7, 2026.

“We are pleased to share that our new Philadelphia Cruise Terminal is now operational and ready to welcome guests,” the company said.

“We are thrilled to return to Philadelphia and resume cruising from this historic city for the first time in many years,” Norwegian continued.

The Norwegian Jewel became the first cruise ship to sail from the homeport in April, marking the end of a 15-year hiatus for cruising from the state.

“This is an exciting milestone, and we are proud to help expand cruise opportunities throughout the mid-Atlantic region,” Norwegian added.

Norwegian said that guests can now proceed directly to the new facility, which is located at 4 Atlantic Avenue in Philadelphia.

The company noted that to ensure a smooth arrival experience, guests are asked not to arrive before 9:30 a.m.

Initially scheduled to open in mid-April, the new facility saw its construction delayed by severe winter weather.

During initial operations from Philadelphia, the Norwegian Jewel conducted its check-in operations at the Clarion Hotel Philadelphia International Airport.

The 2,400-passenger vessel has been offering a series of weeklong cruises to Bermuda since its return to the port.

The Norwegian Jewel completes its first season in Philadelphia in October, after offering open-jaw cruises to Canada and New England.

The Norwegian Pearl is then scheduled to take over operations in Philadelphia Starting in mid-November.

Sailing from the port on a year-round basis, the ship will offer a series of five- to ten-night itineraries to Bermuda, the Caribbean, Canada, New England and other destinations.

According to Norwegian’s recently announced deployment plans, the Norwegian Gem is scheduled to sail from the port in 2028.
