Norwegian Cruise Line to Operate First Summer Season from Galveston

Norwegian Prima in Azores

Norwegian Cruise Line will operate its first year-round cruise program in Galveston, with the Norwegian Prima scheduled to sail from Texas during the summer of 2028.

The vessel is scheduled to offer seven-night cruises to the Western Caribbean departing from the port between April and October 2028.

According to a recent announcement, the schedule is part of an extensive summer deployment in the region that also includes cruises departing from Miami and Port Canaveral.

Norwegian said that the summer itineraries of the Norwegian Prima are highlighted by visits to Harvest Caye in Belize.

The company described the port as a resort-style destination known for its “pristine beaches, nature adventures and easy access to the region’s tropical beauty.”

Sailing roundtrip from Galveston, the cruises will also feature visits to Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mexico, as well as Roatán in Honduras.

Norwegian’s first year-round schedule in Texas starts in November 2027, with the arrival of the Norwegian Escape.

The vessel is scheduled to offer seven- to nine-night cruises to the Western Caribbean from Galveston through April 2028.

After spending the winter sailing from San Juan, the Norwegian Prima is scheduled to arrive at the Texan homeport later the same month.

Norwegian is also offering cruises from Galveston for the 2026-27 winter season, with the Norwegian Viva offering cruises to the Western Caribbean.

The company’s newly announced deployment for 2028 includes over 450 sailings across 20 ships from 20 homeports.

In addition to the Norwegian Prima, the company will also operate the Norwegian Aura, the Norwegian Aqua and the Norwegian Escape in the Caribbean and the Bahamas.

The first two are scheduled to offer three- to seven-night cruises from PortMiami, while the Escape will spend the summer sailing from Port Canaveral.

Other highlights of the deployment include the debut of the Norwegian Gem in Philadelphia and strong seasons in Alaska and Europe.
