Disney Cruise Line has announced it will return to Prince Edward Island on October 27, 2027, when the Disney Wish makes its inaugural call at Port Charlottetown.
The ship, which entered service in 2022, will arrive almost 10 years after the Disney Magic last visited Charlottetown on October 25, 2017.
“Bringing the Disney Wish to New York City for the first time marks an exciting new chapter for Disney Cruise Line,” said Disney Cruise Line Vice President of Port Strategy, Development and Operations, Jose Fernandez.
“By offering more ways to explore Canada’s Atlantic coast, our visit to Prince Edward Island next year will introduce our guests to the region’s rich culture, seasonal beauty and warm hospitality,” added Fernandez.
Departing New York City on October 24, 2027, the seven-night round-trip voyage will call in Charlottetown, Sydney and Halifax before returning on October 31, Disney said in a press release.
Mike Cochrane, CEO of Port Charlottetown, said: “Being part of the Disney Wish’s seven-night sailing from New York reinforces PEI’s position as a premier port of call in the Canada and New England cruise region.”
“We are ready to welcome Disney guests back and show them what makes Prince Edward Island such an unforgettable destination,” Cochrane added.
Disney added that it will be the Wish’s only seven-night Canadian itinerary from New York.
The sailing will make the Wish the first Wish-class ship to sail from New York City and, at seven nights, the longest round-trip itinerary offered during its limited fall 2027 New York City season.
The company stated that the selection of Prince Edward Island reflects a natural alignment between the Disney and Prince Edward Island brands and that the itinerary offers a fall journey around the energy and ambition of New York City and Prince Edward Island.
The late-October call also advances the efforts of Port Charlottetown, the Province of Prince Edward Island and tourism partners to grow visitation beyond the traditional peak season, the press release added.
