American Cruise Lines has named the American Rhapsody, a new riverboat for the Columbia and Snake Rivers that will launch in 2029.

The announcement follows the company’s naming of the American Beauty, scheduled to enter service in September 2028.

The riverboats represent the 29th and 30th ships in the company’s fleet and were built at Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, Maryland.

The company said in a press release that in 2029, the American Rhapsody will begin cruising the nine-day Columbia & Snake Rivers cruises between Portland, OR and Clarkston, WA.

The newly named riverboats are part of the company’s modern American Riverboat series and follow three others: the American Encore (which debuted in May 2026), American Anthem (sailing in April 2027), and American Grace (sailing in April 2028).

The American Beauty and American Rhapsody will both feature six decks, all private balcony staterooms, including Singles and Suites (and each will showcase the 1,500 sq/ft Signature Suite).

These new riverboats will also offer top-deck lounges with walking tracks, chart rooms, main restaurants and casual cafés, as well as large fitness centers, among other onboard amenities.

American Cruise Lines said it is introducing new ships at a rate of three per year and has expanded and developed new itinerary options across 40 states, including exclusive ones.

According to the press release, American Cruise Lines’ new ships from 2025 to 2029 include the following:

• 2025: The American Patriot and American Pioneer (130-guest/small ships)
• 2026: The American Encore (riverboat); American Maverick and American Ranger (130-guest/small ships)
• 2027: The American Anthem (riverboat); American Mariner and American Navigator (130-guest/small ships)
• 2028: The American Grace and American Beauty (two riverboats), and
• 2029: The American Rhapsody (riverboat) and two other new ships (names and details to come later).
