AIDA Cruises will pass on to passengers the tourist tax introduced by the Greek Government in the summer of 2025.

According to the company’s website, the fees will be collected directly from guests for cruises scheduled for 2027.

In a statement, AIDA explained that the mandatory taxes will be automatically added to shipboard accounts, with amounts depending on port and travel period.

The fees apply to both adult and child passengers, but those who decide to stay onboard during visits to Greece will be exempt.

AIDA said that, once collected onboard, the fees will be remitted to the Greek authorities on behalf of the guests.

The change is valid for all new reservations made starting on August 1, 2026, the company noted on FAQ page on its website.

AIDA explained that passengers who booked before that date are exempt from the tourist tax, according to terms and conditions agreed upon at the time of booking.

The company also noted that the fees were introduced by local authorities and apply to all cruise lines operating in Greek destinations.

As previously reported by Cruise Industry News, the Greek cruise taxes were introduced in mid-2025 and vary depending on destination and season.

When visiting Mykonos and Santorini between November 1 and March 31, guests will pay 4 euros per person per port. Other destinations charge 1 euro per person per port during the same timeframe.

Guests will pay 12 euros for each visit to Mykonos and Santorini between April 1 and May 31, as well as in October. For other calls in Greece during shoulder seasons, passengers will be required to pay 3 euros per destination.

Summer months feature higher fees of up to 20 euros per person per visit to Santorini and Mykonos between June 1 and September 30. When visiting other Greek ports during the same timeframe, each passenger will pay 5 euros per visit.
