Explora Journeys has unveiled the destination experiences that will be available during its inaugural summer 2027 Alaska season.
Fourteen departures are scheduled from May to September 2027 for the brand’s first season in the region.
Operating the itineraries will be the Explora III, which recently completed sea trials in the Mediterranean, ahead of her July 24 launch.
“Marking an exciting new chapter in our destination portfolio, the inaugural Alaskan Journeys Collection offers a distinctive range of experiences that allow guests to explore this extraordinary region with a genuine sense of connection and discovery,” said Explora Journeys President Anna Nash.
“The Alaskan Journeys Collection brings guests closer to the glaciers, wildlife and cultures that define the region – from helicopter flights and whale watching to authentic heritage experiences with local communities. Designed with exceptional outdoor space and uninterrupted views, our ships provide an exceptional vantage point from which to experience Alaska’s extraordinary landscapes.”
The land experiences fall into four themes.
Under the “Where Ice Becomes Emotion” theme, guests can expect a helicopter flight over the Juneau Icefield to explore the Mendenhall Glacier; a catamaran bringing them close to Hubbard Glacier; or a jet boat ride enabling them to see the LeConte Glacier Bay or Shakes Glacier.
The “Wildlife as Nature Intended” focuses on animal sightings, such as black bears fishing for salmon at Ketchikan; late-season whale-watching at Prince Rupert; or marine wildlife watching with a guided rainforest hike through Tongass National Forest in Juneau.
“Blue Wrapped in Green” emphasizes the combination of fjords and wild landscapes. Guests can expect a boat journey along the Stikine River in Wrangell, or explore one of Alaska’s coastal landscapes by boat in Seward.
The “Connections to Stories of Land & Sea” theme provides insight into the traditions and communities of the region. At Prince Rupert’s Kaien Island, guests are welcomed by the Kitsumkalum community in the Great Bear Rainforest, while a vintage rail journey in Skagway retraces the historic route to White Pass Summit.
