Royal Caribbean International informed guests of a change to the debarkation port for the May 15, 2026, cruise onboard the Ovation of the Seas.
According to a statement, the seven-night itinerary to Alaska will now end at the port of Whittier instead of Seward.
“We would like to share an important update regarding our debarkation port to help ensure your arrival is as smooth and enjoyable as possible,” Royal Caribbean said.
“Due to port construction in Seward, debarkation for your sailing will now take place in Whittier,” the company added.
Royal Caribbean noted that travel time between Whittier and Anchorage, which serves as a major travel hub in the region, is one hour and 20 minutes.
“We’re terribly sorry for the last-minute change caused by port construction. Our onboard team will share next steps during your cruise,” the company continued.
Guests joining one of Royal Caribbean’s cruise tours will now start their journeys in Whittier, the statement added.
All Royal Caribbean shore excursions and post-cruise transfers will be adjusted to reflect the updated itinerary.
The company also said that for passengers who booked coach or train transportation no action is required, as necessary adjustments will be made by its own team.
Guests with independent transportation or privately arranged excursions are also encouraged to contact their providers directly.
Ovation’s May 15, 2026, departure features visits to Ketchikan, Sitka, and Skagway before arriving in Whittier.
Sailing from Vancouver, the open-jaw itinerary will also offer scenic cruising at the Hubbard Glacier and the Inside Passage.
One of four Royal Caribbean ships in Alaska this year, the Ovation of the Seas is set to offer additional weeklong cruises in the region through mid-September.
The Quantum-class vessel is joined in the region by the Voyager of the Seas, the Serenade of the Seas, and the Anthem of the Seas.
