Norwegian Jade and Gem Resume Service Following Drydocks

Norwegian Jade

The Norwegian Jade and the Norwegian Gem are back in service after recently undergoing routine drydocks.

As part of Norwegian Cruise Line’s maintenance schedule, the ships spent time at shipyards in the Pacific Northwest and the Mediterranean, respectively.

Now offering summer cruises in Alaska, the Norwegian Jade entered drydock in Victoria, Canada, on April 20, 2026.

The 2006-built vessel underwent scheduled maintenance work, as well as technical upgrades and statutory inspections.

In line with other Jewel-class ships, the Jade also introduced the company’s Vibe Beach Club, which was added to Deck 14.

Replacing a public area, the for-payment, adults-only sun deck offers private cabanas, as well as premium lounge chairs and an additional hot tub.

The 93,000-ton ship welcomed guests back in Vancouver on May 4, 2026, kicking off a series of open-jaw cruises that sail to Whittier and back.

Following a trans-Atlantic crossing in late April, the Norwegian Gem entered drydock in Marseille for similar work ahead of its summer season in Europe.

The 2007-built vessel also introduced Norwegian’s Vibe Beach Club solarium, in addition to undergoing technical maintenance and class work.

Set to spend the upcoming summer offering cruises in the Mediterranean, the Gem resumed service on May 11, 2026.

Sailing from Barcelona, Civitavecchia and Ravenna, the 2,430-passenger ship is set to offer a series of itineraries to destinations in Greece, Italy, Croatia, Montenegro, France, Spain and more.

For its initial cruise in the region this year, the vessel is offering a six-night cruise to the Western Mediterranean that will sail to Cannes, Salerno, Messina and Livorno.

As previously reported by Cruise Industry News, the Norwegian Pearl and the Norwegian Jewel underwent similar refits in late 2025.

Both ships welcomed the Vibe Beach Club, in addition to undergoing minor updates to public areas and staterooms.
