MSC Opera Starts Interporting Season in Portugal

MSC Opera in Lisbon

The MSC Opera recently arrived at the Lisbon Cruise Port for its interporting season in Portugal, which will be offered throughout the summer.

After completing a winter season in South Africa, the 2,160-passenger ship is now offering a series of ten-night cruises to the Western Mediterranean and the Atlantic.

Visiting Portugal, Italy, Spain and France, the itineraries allow guests to board the ship in multiple ports, including Lisbon, Genoa, Marseille and Alicante.

The destination-intensive cruise is also highlighted by visits to Olbia in Sardinia and Mahón in Minorca, as well as Málaga and Cádiz.

Through late September, the MSC Opera will offer 15 cruises sailing roundtrip from Lisbon, in addition to a repositioning voyage to Genoa.

Set to move to the Caribbean on a full-time basis in late 2026, the MSC Opera will be replaced by the MSC Sinfonia in 2027.

The Lirica-class ship takes over the ten-night itineraries to Portugal, Italy, Spain and France, which will be offered between April and September.

Expanding the company’s operations in the region, the Sinfonia will make visits to additional ports of call, such as Portimão in Portugal, Ceuta in Spain and Tangier in Morocco.

As the first MSC vessel to spend the summer in the region, the MSC Opera will be based in the Dominican Republic and Martinique for seven- and 14-night cruises to the Southern Caribbean.

In late 2026, the company will also kick off a new interporting season in Portugal with the larger MSC Fantasia.

The 3,500-passenger ship will offer seven-night cruises to the Canary Islands from Funchal between December 15, 2026, and March 23, 2027.

Sailing from Madeira Island, the vessel’s itineraries feature visits to Arrecife de Lanzarote, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Puerto del Rosario.

The MSC Fantasia is set to return to the region for similar itineraries from Funchal during the 2027-28 winter season.
