Aqua by MSC to Expand to More Ships in 2026

Aqua MSC

MSC Cruises’ new sustainable water is being rolled out to more ships in 2026, according to the company’s website.

The initiative, which produces mineral-enriched water onboard using a seawater filtering system, is expected to be available on all of the company’s fleet by the end of the year.

As previously reported by Cruise Industry News, the program was first introduced onboard the MSC World Europa in 2025.

Served by glass or in returnable bottles, Aqua by MSC aims to replace single-use plastic bottles, the company explained.

According to MSC, over four million plastic bottles will be eliminated every month once the initiative is fully rolled out.

“By 2026, this will represent an annual average of more than 49 million single-use plastic water bottles cut out fleetwide, following the roll-out across all 24 MSC Cruises ships,” the company stated.

According to the cruise line, Aqua by MSC is a “mineral-enriched water created on board using state-of-the-art purification technology.”

The product is available in both still and sparkling varieties and is enhanced with magnesium and potassium for what the company calls “a fresh and crisp taste.”

Guests can take advantage of the drinking water in different areas of the ships, including main dining rooms, which serve Aqua by MSC reusable one-liter bottles.

Bars and buffets serve it by glass, while refill stations have been installed for guests to refill and take water with them.

MSC said that passengers can either bring their own bottles or purchase reusable ones at shops onboard the vessels.

Passengers who acquire one of the company’s drink packages can enjoy unlimited Aqua by MSC, while for non-package holders, the product is available for purchase by bottle, glass or refill.

The company also said that complimentary non-mineralized water is still available by dispenser at the ships’ buffets.

Guests sailing in the company’s suite enclave, the MSC Yacht Club, will continue to be served traditional mineral water in glass bottles. Specialty restaurants will also serve mineral water in glass bottles, MSC added.

The company also said that drink package holders will receive a complimentary MSC-branded stainless steel reusable bottle directly in their cabin.

According to MSC, guests sailing without a drink package can buy a one-liter bottle for two euros to consume in its main restaurants.

Refills are available for one euro at self-serve refill stations, while glasses are served for half a euro in bars and buffets.
