Royal Caribbean’s Anthem Resumes Service in Australia

  • February 9, 2026
Anthem of the Seas

The Anthem of the Seas welcomed guests back onboard in Sydney on Friday after spending 10 days out of service.

Currently offering a winter season in Australia, the Royal Caribbean ship had its previous cruise cancelled due to a technical issue.

According to a statement issued by the company in late January, the cancellation was necessary for required maintenance.

The 4,204-passenger ship is now offering a seven-night cruise to Queensland that features an overnight visit to Airlie Beach. The itinerary also includes four days cruising in the South Pacific.

Continuing its season in the region, the vessel is scheduled to offer two- to 12-night cruises to Tasmania, the South Pacific Islands, New Zealand and more.

Anthem’s cancelled cruise was set to depart from Sydney on January 27, 2026. Sailing roundtrip from the port, the ten-night cruise featured visits to five destinations in New Zealand.

The 2015-built vessel was also scheduled to offer scenic cruising in the Fjordland National Park before returning to its homeport.

Affected guests received a full refund of the cruise fare, in addition to a 25 percent Future Cruise Credit for new bookings with Royal Caribbean.

The company also reimbursed non-refundable, pre-purchased travel fees incurred, such as flight, hotel, train ticket or rental car expenses.

According to AIS data, the Anthem of the Seas spent the last ten days undergoing maintenance at the port of Eden in Australia.

Upon completing its winter season Down Under, the ship is scheduled to offer a repositioning voyage in mid-April ahead of a summer season in Alaska.

Joining the Ovation of the Seas and the Serenade of the Seas in the region, the vessel will offer seven-night cruises departing from Seattle.

The Anthem is scheduled to return to Australia in November 2026 for a second season sailing from Sydney.
