The cruise industry is now expected to add 77 ships and over 200,000 berths over the next decade, according to the latest update of Cruise Industry News’ global cruise ship orderbook.
Recent orders from Royal Caribbean, MSC Cruises, and Mystic have led to a significant increase in the industry’s expected capacity growth.
New ships on order now average approximately 2,600 guests at 115,000 tons.
The new vessels now have an overall capacity of 2,598 passengers, as well as an overall size of 114,936 tons.

Cruise Industry News estimates that the orderbook is valued at $76.9 billion, with each ship costing an average of approximately $1 billion.
With ten ships now on order, the Royal Caribbean Group recently ordered two new ships at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard.
Introducing a new design, the vessels will be part of the Discovery Class and are scheduled to enter service in 2029 and 2032.
MSC Cruises also placed a significant new order in early 2026, adding four new vessels to its orderbook, which now includes 14 vessels. The latest ships will be built at Meyer Werft in Germany.
Atlas Ocean Voyages also announced plans for a newbuild in early 2026, confirming a previously reported order from the China Merchants shipyard.
Set to debut in 2028, the company’s new ship will feature a unique wind-powered design, as well as capacity for 400 passengers.
In 2026, the cruise industry will introduce 13 new ships to its fleet, which will add 27,107 new berths to the market.
As previously reported by Cruise Industry News, the vessels will debut for 12 brands, including Viking, which is taking delivery of two ships.
The lineup is also highlighted by large ships from Royal Caribbean International, Norwegian Cruise Line, Adora Cruises and MSC Cruises.
A range of luxury vessels is also set to debut for brands like Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Orient Express, Explora Journeys and Four Seasons.
