In collaboration with PortMiami, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Royal Caribbean Group, and Lemartec-NV2A JV, will participate in a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, January 8, to celebrate the new Cruise Terminal G at the seaport.

According to a press release, the new state-of-the-art, LEED Certified facility will serve Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Silversea ships.

Set to be built as part of a partnership between Miami-Dade County, PortMiami, Royal Caribbean Group and Lemartec-NV2A JV, the new cruise complex is scheduled to open by the end of 2027.

In addition to a cruise terminal, the structure will also include a multi-level parking facility integrated with a ground-level intermodal transportation hub.

PortMiami stated that the new Terminal G will accommodate next-generation cruise ships capable of handling up to 7,000 passengers.

Joining Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, the groundbreaking ceremony will be attended by Jimmy Morales, chief operating officer of Miami-Dade County; Hydi Webb, director and CEO of PortMiami; and members of the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners.

Royal Caribbean’s Chairman and CEO Jason Liberty will also be present, as well as Manuel R. Garcia-Tuñon, president and CEO of Lemartec and Gilberto Neves, president and CEO of NV2A.

As previously reported by Cruise Industry News, the new cruise terminal is set to be built as part of a $345 million project that started in July 2025.

The first stage of the development included the demolition of the structures of the former Terminal G building, which first opened in 1999.

Project highlights include a main building design that strategically separates passenger flow by floor, optimizing circulation and reducing congestion throughout embarkation and disembarkation.

The terminal is also said to feature an architectural design aimed at contributing to the evolving skyline of PortMiami.

In addition to Terminal G, Royal Caribbean also operates PortMiami’s Terminal A, which the company built in 2018.
