Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Shifts Strategy on Single Cabins

  • November 6, 2025
Norwegian Viva

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings is shifting strategies when it comes to the number of single cabins it will offer across its three brands, according to Harry Sommer, president and CEO, speaking on the company’s third quarter earnings call.

He said the company would minimize the number of single cabins across the Norwegian, Oceania and Regent brands.

That news comes as a change as the company had announced just two years ago it would introduce nearly 1,000 dedicated solo staterooms across its then 19-ship Norwegian Cruise Line fleet.

Starting in early 2024, the company opened three new solo stateroom categories, including Solo Inside, Solo Oceanview and Solo Balcony for future sailings starting Jan. 2, 2024. With pricing and availability dependent on the destination and demand, solo travelers could expect to pay less than a traditional double occupancy room, the company said at the time.
