The Tourism Commission and the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) have announced that 17 international cruises will visit Hong Kong in March.
The board said in a press release that Hong Kong welcomed the Celebrity Millenium, Costa Serena, Silver Whisper and Seabourn Encore between March 8 and 9. The ships docked at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal and the Ocean Terminal 1 in Tsim Sha Tsui.
According to KHTB, the ships brought approximately 5,400 visitors from 31 countries or regions to the city.
Guests onboard the ships were given the opportunity to go on shore excursions and add a walk in Kowloon City to their onshore itineraries.
According to the press release, highlights included the Kai Tak Sports Park and a visit to “Live out the Cinematic Charm of Hong Kong – Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In Exhibition” organized by HKTB in the AIRSIDE shopping mall.
Guests also learned about the history of Walled City, tasted Hong Kong-style egg tarts and visited the Chilin Nunnery.
According to HKTB, more large cruise ships will make debut visits to Hong Kong next week, and three large cruise ships will call from March 18 to 19. These include the Queen Anne and Norwegian Sky, both visiting Hong Kong for the first time.
The board also said that the Queen Elizabeth will return to Hong Kong. According to KHTB, the Queen Anne’s World Cruise gala dinner will be hosted in Hong Kong at a local hotel. The board expects more than 1,000 travelers to attend.
HKTB added that it will maintain liaisons with both mainland and international cruise companies to attract more ship calls to Hong Kong and provide cruise travelers with more diversified onshore travel experiences.
