Celestyal Cruises cancelled calls in Santorini in March and April due to seismic activity on the island.

According to a statement shared on the company’s website, the change affects its “Iconic Greek Islands” itinerary.

“We continuously monitor our global operations, including the recent seismic activity recorded in the Aegean,” the company said.

“In line with recent Greek government advice, we will be updating our itineraries, proactively replacing Santorini,” Celestyal continued.

Sailing onboard the Celestyal Discovery, the three- and four-night cruises are now set to include a visit to Heraklion, Greece.

“We are in the process of informing all affected customers and partners and have also advised them that we are committed to returning to the island as soon as the government has deemed it safe to do so,” Celestyal added.

The company noted that it’s ready to return to Santorini if the situation improves and a safe and enjoyable experience can be assured.

Celestyal is currently set to return to the island on May 1, 2025.

Three other cruise lines are reportedly cancelling their visits to Santorini in 2025.

According to Arxipelagos, Viking, Selectum Blu, and Miray also decided to drop their calls to visit the Greek island in the upcoming weeks.

Initially set to open the season in February, Viking cancelled two additional arrivals to Santorini.

Instead of sailing to the destination, the Viking Star is now set to visit Mykonos and Nafplio.

Miray Cruises is also replacing visits to Santorini in March, with the Gemini now heading to Syros.

Upon kicking off its 2025 summer season in the Mediterranean, Selectum Blu will replace its visits to Santorini.

Sailing from Turkey, the Blue Sapphire is set to visit Patmos during its four-night cruises.

Other cruise lines that previously cancelled visits to Santorini in 2025 include Princess, Costa, and AIDA.
