Gotland Alandia Cruises announced in a statement that the Birka Gotland celebrated a year of service with the company on March 20, 2025.
The company said that during the year, the ship visited seven Baltic Sea ports, had over 532,000 passengers and worked to refine an attractive cruise offering for the Swedish market.
“We have exciting news in the pipeline for our second year,” said Kenneth Gustavsson, CEO of Gotland Alandia Cruises.
According to the statement, the Birka Gotland offers daily sailings in the Baltic Sea. Before starting service in March 2024, the ship was upgraded for SEK70 million. Upgrades included a redesigned spa and an update of the terrace on deck 10.
According to the company, the ship has since been adjusted and refined onboard to attract new cruise passengers.
“Our full focus is to continue to create Sweden’s premier cruise experience. It is about delivering good food, entertainment, shopping and relaxation tailored to a Swedish audience every day,” said Kenneth Gustavsson.
“For May and June, we already have 30 percent more bookings than the same timeframe last year, so the start of the summer’s peak season looks very promising,” added Gustavsson.
Now, we look forward to celebrating a fine first year together with the ship’s crew and all our passengers. After that, we will present several major news items in the spring, which we are convinced will attract even more people to discover the Baltic Sea’s only pure cruise ship,” said Gustavsson.
